1009/303 To confirm and sign the minutes of the Planning meeting held 25 th August 2010 It was resolved to confirm and sign the minutes of the meeting as a correct record.
1009/304 Torridge District Council Planning Applications: Torridge District Council, the determining Authority, has asked for comments from this Town Council on the following planning applications: - It was formally noted that participation of the Councillors who are also members of Torridge District Council in both the debate and subsequent vote (in respect of any of the applications below, were preliminary taking account of the information matters) was on the basis that the views expressed made available at the time to the Town Council. The District Councillors were reserving their final views on the applications until they were in full possession of all the relevant arguments for and against 1/0575/2020/OUTM Location: Willowdene and Lower Lodge, Golf Links Road, Westward Ho! Applicant: County Devon Ltd Proposal: Demolition of two dwellings and erection of 12 no terraced and semi-detached dwellings.
It was resolved to recommend to Torridge District Council that this application be refused for the following reasons: Gross over-development, too much loss of garden space, only pedestrian access, no access for emergency vehicles. If development is permitted then there would be an impact on the existing street scene, impact on sewerage facilities and there would be concern about the lack of renewable energy in the development and rainwater saving provision. 1/0736/2010/FUL Location: 26 Atlantic Way, Westward Ho! Applicant: Mr D and Mrs P Redman Proposal: Loft conversion, refurbishment incorporating bay window and new glazed and timber framed stairwell extension Councillors Mrs Collins and Tisdale declared a prejudicial interest and left the room for this item. It was resolved to recommend to Torridge District Council that this application be approved subject to concerns about the design of the stairwell extension. It is not in keeping with the period detail of the house. Also at the front the rooflights are not in keeping with the period detail of the house.

It was resolved to recommend to Torridge District Council that this application be approved subject to the replacement windows being in accordance with the conservation area, i.e. should be timber .

It was resolved to recommend to Torridge District Council that this application be noted.

Cllr Mrs Biggs declared a personal interest and left the meeting for this item.
It was resolved to recommend to Torridge District Council that this application be approved but Members expressed concerns that the junction with Heywood Road is extremely dangerous and they would therefore like to see a restriction on all vehicles leaving Hanson Park being obliged to turn left with a mini roundabout installed at the bottom of Raleigh Hill or Northam Road.
