Minutes of a meeting of the Town Council's Planning/ Licensing Committee held in the Council Chamber, Windmill Lane, Northam on Wednesday 16th April 2008

1. Minutes

The minutes of the Town Council's Planning/Licensing Committee held 25 th March 2008 were approved and signed.

2. Planning applications

0136/08 Proposed conversion of existing dwelling into three apartments - Sutton Raleigh, Mount Raleigh Re-submission of planning application

0705/07 RESOLVED - Recommend Refusal Council supports the reasons given by the District Council on the previous application. Council would agree that the local roads, privately owned, and Raleigh Hill are unsuitable for increased traffic flows.

0164/08 Proposed Removal of existing glazed covered patio and shed and 0165/08 construct new timber conservatory with small wc. 5 Odun Road, Appledore RESOLVED - Recommend approval if Conservation Officer is pro-active in ensuring that works and materials are appropriate.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0330/08 Proposed conversion of existing property into 2 self contained flats1 Odun Hall, Odun Road, Appledore - RESOLVED - Recommend Refusal Believed to be in contravention of District policies DVT10 and 11.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0344/08 Proposed extension to the side/rear of the existing property - 7 Silver Street, Appledore RESOLVED - Recommend approval if not blocking the light for neighbours.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0350/08 Proposed new garage, utility room and entrance. Mouna, Bidna Lane, Northam RESOLVED - Recommend approval.

Cllrs Mrs Boyle and Hames declared an interest in this application and left the meeting whilst the vote took place.

(Vote: 10 For, 2 abst)

Cllrs Mrs Collins left the meeting at this juncture.

Cllr Tisdale joined the meeting at this juncture.

0370/08 Proposed conversion of garage/workshop into a dwelling and junction improvement - Land opposite 6 Eastbourne Terrace, Westward Ho! RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. Members concerned about the traffic problems. No substantial improvement at the junction and over-development within the curtilage.

0322/08 Proposed single storey rear extension with adjoining conservatory Meadowsweet, Puse Hill, Westward Ho! RESOLVED - Recommend approval but concerned about the size.

0290/08 Proposed conservatory on rear elevation. 7 Old Stone Close, Westward Ho! RESOLVED - Recommend approval

0284/08 Proposed residential development with minor amendments to Plots 4 and Land off Avon Lane, Westward Ho! RESOLVED - Recommend approval

1453/07 Proposed re-development, 12 flats, 2 shops 2 restaurants and car parking, Tourist Information Centre comprising an office and flat, public toilets - amended location - The Buccaneer, Bath Hotel Road, Westward Ho! Council were advised that the outline application for this site had now been approved by the District Council. Having regard to this and the fact that the application was an adjustment of the boundaries it was RESOLVED to note the application.
