Minutes of a meeting of the Town Council's Planning/ Licensing Committee held in the Council Chamber, Windmill Lane, Northam on Wednesday 24 th June 2009

1. Minutes

The minutes of the Town Council's Planning/Licensing Committee held 10 th June 2009 were approved and signed.

(Vote: Unanimous)

Cllr Mrs Cox made the following statement: -

“As both a Town and District Councillor I wish to make it clear that I will reconsider the matter(s) at the District level, taking into account all relevant evidence and representations at the District Council's Plans Committee.”

2. Planning applications

0105/09 Proposed golf driving range - Royal North Devon Golf Club –Amended scheme – RESOLVED - Recommend approval.

(Vote: 6 For, 1 abst)

Councillors Johnson and Langton declared a personal interest.

0186/09 Proposed conversion of unused part of building to form manager's accommodation - Fantasy Island Amusements, Golf Links Road, Westward Ho! – RESOLVED - Recommend approval

Cllr Johnson declared a prejudicial interest and left the room for this item.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0415/09 Proposed residential development on agricultural land. Plot at OS 446 land off Mount Raleigh Avenue – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. This proposal would be development on agricultural land and it would add to the existing traffic problems in an area already suffering from an inadequate road system.

(Vote: 6 For, Cllr Mrs Cox abstained)

0453/09 Proposed erection of two storey extension to dwelling -1 Silford Cottages, Raleigh Hill – RESOLVED - Recommend approval

(Vote: Unanimous)

0505/09 Proposed single storey rear conservatory - 4 Orchard Gardens, Orchard Hill – RESOLVED - Recommend approval

0517/09 Plot 1 Land adjoining High Stacks, Raleigh Hill – Proposed residential development for 4 no dwellings – reserved matters application pursuant to planning permission 1276/08 - RESOLVED - Recommend approval

Cllr Tisdale joined the meeting at this juncture.

Recommend approval

3. Westward Ho! Tennis Club – Public Consultation

The Chairman drew Members' attention to the letter from the Club who were holding a public display of their proposed new facilities. He encouraged Members to attend.
