Minutes of a meeting of the Town Council's Planning/ Licensing Committee held in the Council Chamber, Windmill Lane, Northam on Tuesday 30 th March 2010.

Apologies were recorded on behalf of Cllrs J Braund, A Eastman and R Miller

1. The Minutes of the Town Council's Planning/Licensing Committee held 17th March 2010 were approved and signed.

2. Planning applications

0134/10 Ferndale House, Atlantic Way, Westward Ho! – Proposed conversion of garage to create a two bed flat. (Flat 11) – RESOLVED - Recommend approval but concerned the design is not in keeping with the Victorian building and that there could be insufficient parking for the number of flats in the development.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0183/10 Hockings Dairy Cream Ices, Kingsley Avenue, Appledore – Proposed replacement of corrugated cement fibre roof with corrugated steel roof covering – RESOLVED - Recommend approval.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0189/10 Matusadonna, The Tors, Gainsborough Road, Westward Ho! - Proposed construction of wooden garden shed – RESOLVED Recommend approval but would like any consent to ensure that it is used as a garden shed.

Cllr Mrs Collins declared an interest and left the room for this item.

0192/10 Willow Barn, Lower Cleave –Listed Building application for the proposed removal of balcony and construction of conservatory – RESOLVED - Recommend approval.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0194/10 19 Century Drive, Northam – Proposed extension to dwelling and provision of parking lay-bys – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. The proposal is too large and constitutes over development of the site. Also concerned about the lay-bys and wonder if these will be part of the highway.

(Vote: Unanimous)

0200/10 91 Atlantic Way, Westward Ho! – Proposed demolition of single storey extension and construction of 2 storey extension in its place and internal alterations – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. The proposal is too large and constitutes over development of the site. Also concerned about the lay-bys and wonder if these will be part of the highway.

(Vote: Unanimous)

Cllr Johnson joined the meeting at this juncture.

3. Decision Notices

Land at Tomouth Road, Appledore – The Town Clerk reported that the developer was requesting the District Council to agree a name for the development. Members took the view that it should be seen as part of Tomouth Road and it was RESOLVED to advise the District Council accordingly.

4. Proposed new Tennis Club Development 0980/09

The Town Mayor reported that the District Council would be considering this application on Thursday 1st April and that the Town Council were able to attend the meeting and present their comments. It was agreed that the Town Mayor attend if possible.
