Minutes of a meeting of the Town Council's Planning/ Licensing Committee held in the Council Chamber, Windmill Lane, Northam on 16th December 2009

1. Minutes

The minutes of the Town Council's Planning/Licensing Committee held 25 th November 2009 were approved and signed.

2. Planning applications

1179/09 Knapp House, Churchill Way – Proposed marina village and other development.

The Chairman advised that this large application had only just arrived and there had been insufficient time in which to consider it properly. The District Council had advised that they would accept representations up to the end of January. It was RESOLVED to consider this application at the Planning meeting on January 13 th 2010 when this would be the sole item on the agenda.

(Vote: 7 For, 1 abst)

Cllr Hames declared a prejudicial interest and did not vote.

1002/09 9 Scott Avenue, Appledore – Proposed extension to front of property – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. Concerned that the proposal would be forward of the building line of both adjoining properties and create light problems for neighbours. Needs to be redesigned.

1110/09 1 Westcroft Terrace, Irsha Street, Appledore – Proposed replacement extension and replacement windows – RESOLVED - Recommend approval provided Conservation Officer is satisfied.

. 1114/09 24 New Street, Appledore – Proposed erection of conservatory in rear yard – RESOLVED - Recommend approval if Conservation Officer is satisfied.

1124/09 27 Scott Avenue, Appledore – Proposed demolition of garage and erection of dwelling and parking spaces including replacement parking for existing dwelling – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. Over-intensive development and out of keeping with the rest of the estate. Very small site.

1130/09 Rear of Chalmers, Golf Links Road, Westward Ho! – Proposed detached two bedroom bungalow – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. Over-intensive development and impacts on the amenity of adjoining properties.

1148/09 48a Morwenna Park Road – Proposed change of use from the ground floor flat into a community facility including play area – RESOLVED - Recommend approval.

1150/09 Fairways, Torridge Road, Appledore – Renewal of consent for demolition of existing bungalow and replacement with new – RESOLVED - Recommend approval but can we see the plans please
