Minutes of a meeting of the Town Council's Planning/ Licensing Committee held in the Council Chamber, Windmill Lane, Northam on Tuesday 31st March 2009. The minutes of the Town Council's Planning/Licensing Committee held 18 th March 2009 were approved and signed. (Vote: Unanimous) 2. Planning applications 0027/09 Proposed demolition of gable end wall and re-building with two windows. Listed Building Application - Chircombe House, Chircombe Lane, Northam – RESOLVED - It was resolved to leave the decision to a Planning Officer with advice from the Conservation Officer. Concern is raised however that the defect in the wall is being used as an excuse to alter the look of the building. Council believes it is important that similar materials be used in any reconstruction. (Vote: Unanimous) 0/09 Amended plans for alterations and extensions - Arden, Highfield, ortham – RESOLVED - Recommend approval (Vote: Unanimous) 0164/09 Proposed single storey rear extension. 27 Daneshay, Northam – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. It would appear that the proposal is excessive and would be over-bearing and raises overlooking concerns. The extensions on the neighbours' properties however are not shown on the drawings. (Vote: Unanimous) 175/09 Proposed replacement of front ground floor window - 32 Meeting Street, Appledore – RESOLVED - Recommend approval (Vote: Unanimous) 0189/09 Proposed variation of condition 3 of planning consent to allow twelve month holiday occupancy - 9 Lenwood Country Club – RESOLVED - Recommend approval (Vote: Unanimous) 0199/09 Proposed conversion of top two rooms of the property to a Self-contained holiday let - Old Coach House, Kingsley Road, Westward Ho! – RESOLVED - Recommend approval (Vote: Unanimous) 0226/09 Proposed flat roof dormer extension to rear of property and rear garage - Clonmore, 7 Orchard Gardens, Orchard Hill – RESOLVED - Recommend approval if no over-looking problems – concerned about flat roof. (Vote: Unanimous) 0228/09 Proposed alterations to existing double garage to provide additional living accommodation - 14 Dudley Way, Westward Ho! – RESOLVED - Recommend approval but expect the development to be integral with the existing dwelling. (Vote: Unanimous) 0238/09 Proposed conversion of loft to form bedroom with dormer windows - 9 New Street, Appledore – RESOLVED - Recommend approval but concerned that dimensions are overbearing and whether it conforms to the earlier consent. Need to ensure that the proposal is in keeping with the area. Cllr Edwards declared a personal interest and left the meeting for this item. (Vote: Unanimous) 0255/09 Proposed extension to provide bedroom - 15 Glenfield Road, Orchard Hill – RESOLVED - Recommend approval (Vote: Unanimous) 0263/09 Proposed removal of existing garage to provide double garage with bedrooms above - Courtmoor, Pitt Lane, Appledore – RESOLVED - Recommend refusal. Over-intensive use of the site and excessive massing. The height of the proposal is excessive as is the size of the extension. There is a need to harmonise the proposal with the area. (Vote: Unanimous) 0275/09 Proposed pitched roof and replacement walls to east elevation - 113 Irsha Street, Appledore – RESOLVED - Recommend approval. (Vote: Unanimous) 3. Re-development of Appledore Methodist Church Cllr Osborne reported on a letter from the Appledore Community Land Trust to the Methodist authorities which was putting forward their interest in their property for the purpose of affordable homes for local people. Cllrs Eastman and Robinson declared an interest as Trustees.
